1st Baseball Game!

We finally took Cohen to his first baseball game. The Pawtucket Red Sox were in town playing the Durham Bulls and Daisuke Matsuzaka was pitching as part of his rehab before going back to the Sox.

We had seats right next to the Red Sox bullpen so that Cohen could watch the pitchers warm up. The night got off to a great start as one of the pitching coaches gave Cohen a ball (thankfully, he did not throw it back).

Of course, going to a ball game would not be complete without hot dogs and popcorn.

Wool E Bull, the team mascot, entertained the crowd before the game by racing around the field in his go-kart.

But then the rain started and delayed the start of the game.

Thankfully, it was just a slight drizzle, so we stayed out in the open for a bit. Cohen passed some of the time clapping and dancing to the music. The row next to us was pretty much open, so he ran up and down the aisle and explored how folding bleacher seats work.

Almost an hour later, the tarp came off the field and Daisuke started to warm up right in front of us! Cohen also discovered how long it actually takes Daisuke to throw the ball (his interest wanes as Daisuke waits).

Finally the game started, but unfortunately Cohen was no longer interested. Luckily, the concourse was open enough for him to run.

And then he saw the construction behind the stadium, which pretty much ended his interest in the baseball game.

On the drive home, Cohen held his new ball for the entire ride.  No doubt this will become a repeated summer activity.
